The Tree as a giver of bounty and life, has been an important motif in various cultures throughout the world. This Pattachitra represents the ‘sacred tree’ in many forms. Inspired by the flora around him, renowned artist Niranjan Moharana celebrates nature and reminds us of our universal connection to Mother Earth, as well as our dependence on nature in order to grow and flourish. At the foot of the central tree, you will find a deer and a bird .

Made up of two words: ‘Patta’ meaning cloth and ‘Chitra’ meaning image, Pattachitra is an art form that emerged from Puri (Odisha) where images of the deities and their chronicles are painted on a piece of cloth or palm leaves.
